The bites of mosquitoes, horseflies, fleas, and those types of bites, have typically been treated with temporary solutions.

The stings of bees, wasps, jellyfish, and imported red fire ants have been typically soaked with concoctions that only numbed or blocked the pain with chemicals such as ammonia.

The majority of products contain cortisone, menthol, Benzocaine or camphor; they only address the itching. Others contain Antihistamines, which cause drowsiness, and should not be used while operating any type of machinery.

Most require repeated applications and could be dangerous if used or swallowed by children.
